NORTH WEXFORD CYCLE CAMPAIGN

Our aim is to improve cycling facilities and services in the North Wexford area, and to promote cycling for fitness, family and fun.

Since our inception in June 2010 we have made submissions to the Gorey Council regarding the inclusion of a cycling policy for Gorey in the Gorey Development Plan. Local councillors have responded positively to our submission and we look forward to working with them and the local community into the future, as we all endeavour to improve the quality of leisure and commuting facilities in the Gorey environs.

Sought After Facilities:

Family Cycling Tracks: Somewhere safe, with pleasant surroundings, for families to enjoy a leisurely cycle.

Mountain Biking Tracks: A place for the more adventurous cyclist to get away from the traffic and enjoy the natural beauty of North Wexford.

BMX Park: A dirt bike arena for the young people of Gorey, providing the facilities for a healthy past time.

Cycle Lanes : Road-side cycle lanes for commuters on the major routes into and out of Gorey town.

Cycling Tourist Routes: Signposted routes of natural beauty and interest in the locality, to create sustainable tourism for North Wexford.

These facilities exist in many other towns and regions throughout Ireland, and there are many grants available to the local council to implement such schemes. We hope that by working with the local council to secure these grants, we can achieve our ultimate goal of making Gorey a model cycling town, while in turn improving the quality of life for every member of the local community.
